How to Animate a Multi-City Travel Itinerary
A multi-city map succeeds when the viewer can follow the order of the trip. The technical task is easy—add the airports—but the editorial task is deciding which stops deserve a visible leg and how long the complete journey should remain on screen.
Separate destinations from connections
List every airport, then mark whether it is a destination, a meaningful stopover or only a connection. Include a connection when it explains a surprising detour or is part of the story. Omit it when it adds a label but no narrative value.
TripAnim supports up to four intermediate stops, for six cities total. For a longer journey, make two chapter maps instead of forcing the complete trip into one clip.
Order and pacing are the explanation
Enter stops in travel order and preview from beginning to end. A missing or reversed airport is more damaging than a stylistic choice because it changes the story the map tells.
Use a duration that gives each leg time to register. Closely spaced European legs may need less movement time than an ocean crossing; if the sequence feels uneven, divide it by chapters in the final edit.
Keep the camera predictable
Overview is a dependable starting point for itineraries that cross several regions. Follow camera emphasizes motion but can make the global pattern harder to see. Use city labels and a concise title; do not add separate on-map narration for every leg.
Accuracy check before export
Compare the preview against the actual itinerary or booking list before recording.
